The 74 ml bottle has similar ingredients to other energy shots, but it is licensed and sold for Playboy.  Any change in libido?  Sure, but not really.  Provides the same as any other energy shot.

Tests are based upon what we have done in this past.  Factors such as taste, price, and energy were taken in consideration when fulfilling this list.  To see our previous 5 hour energy alternative, you can replace this list with that, although 5 hour is in this list.  After three years of submitting our bodies to these tests here are what we feel are the top ten energy shots.

5 hour regular strength energy shot - call her the first, call her old reliable, call her whatever, 5 hour energy regular strength is here to stay.  It's the most common, has an average amount of energy, and it is going to outlast all the other companies, maybe even one or two on this list.  It doesn't rank higher because of price, and a larger than normal complaint of upset stomach/insides.

Stacker 2 Energy Shot - More a company than an actual energy shot, Stacker 2 makes all sorts of energy shots under different names.  Some of them suck, most of them are good, and two of them are great (see the top energy shot below).  And since they make the cheapest energy shots available, its a no brainer to give them a shot.

Monster Hitman Energy Shot - this may rank higher if it weren't for the taste.  Taste's like cough syrup, but it will give you the bitter beer face you always dread on the weekend, but worse.  However, jacked in with caffeine and who knows what moreso than the regular B12 vitamin, niacin, and taurine, this gives a variation on the energy shot buzz, that some prefer.

Mana Energy Potion - Ranking #1 as the top 5 hour energy alternative in 2008, this fun drink has dropped slightly in the rankings.  Partially because of price (running anywhere from $4 - 6), it is also one of, if not the, most expensive energy shot.  That being said, you have to try this energy potion at least once, if nothing more than for nostalgia sake.  Not a gamer?  You should still try it, as the flavor is fun, the experience not intense but full of pick me up, and you are left over with a great little bottle to put in your collection of stuff.

Nitro2Go Instant Energy Extra Strength - Made by another energy shot manufacturer that seems to relabel and slightly modify their product for every marketing angle under the sun, Instant Energy is Nitro2go's strongest product, and many agree is the closest to 5 hour.  Even 5 hour agrees as they sued Nitro2go a few years back for copying their product.  A good solid product, just wish the price was more competitive, since after all it is just a knock off.

5 Hour Extra Strength - Do I need to say more.  The original, but better.  Most people choose this over regular formula for the sole reason that this one DOES NOT give upset insides while the other does.  And with the increased energy, expect to only pay 20 to 50 cents more than regular strength.

Fusion Energy Shot - Fusion is a solid energy shot at a reasonable price, however it can be hard to find.  Running strong in 2008 and 09, its popularity has waned in the flooded market.  But that is not because of an inferior product.  So if you can find this one, snatch it up quick before it disappears.

Worx Energy Shot - New for mid 2010, Worx Energy is a great little energy shot that provides lasting strength and invigoration.  With a seventy-five cent to dollar cheaper price point than other energy shots, and a strong marketing campaign which hopefully brings out a long lasting product, Worx Energy Works.  We also like the wide mouth opening for faster refueling of our energy tanks.

Xtra Energy Shot - Regular strength is a good product at a great price of only $1.  However, if you want the ultimate energy for the same price see below.

After all is said and done many energy shots are very close, if not the same: bottled in the same warehouse, with the same ingredients, just a different label.  Xtra Extra Strength competes on par or better with all of the products above, tastes the same as 5 hour energy, and is the cheapest.  At only $1, the Xtra Extra Strength Energy shot, is the most buzz for your buck.

Review:

The new NOS Energy Powershot Review is the newest energy shot in NOS energy drink line up.  Touted as a powerful Antioxidant Boost Formula, let's see if this shot is as powerful as it says it is.

On the cover it says "This is not NOS energy drink!  Powershot is highly concentrated and much more powerful".  I'll let you know what I think of this statement at the bottom of the review.

First off the taste.  3 out of 5 stars.  It's not great, and you are going to pucker when you have it.  That doesn't mean it is bad, it just means that it is strange - like no other energy shot you have ever had before.  Most likely this is because of the high amount of sodium in it(comparatively), that it reminds you of a grape flavored gatorade, with extra salt thrown in for good measure(as if it didn't have enough already!).  But, unlike many energy drinks, this flavor is tolerable and slides down easy.

Next up, the buzz.  This guy will get you going.  You'll feel it in as quick as 10 to 15 minutes.  Increased alertness, a slight shake, and regular bowel movement shortly after(great sign that stimulants are working!) is a promising sign as we start our caffeine laced interaction.  Life is good as I go to work, finish up the boring tasks that don't seem quite as boring, and then hit up the gym at lunch for some hard p90x ab ripper x and bicep and back work.  I'm still not phased afterward, and finish off the day, with no problems gettign through that after lunch crunch that gets us down so often(and 5 hour has been hounding everyone that  that is why they need their product).

About two o clock things wear off.  This about 3.5 hours later, and there is no crash.  I'm not feeling the buzz any more, but things are going smooth, and I do not feel groggy or sluggish.

Overall, the Nos Energy shot does not seem any different than the regular NOS, but it tastes better, and has some antioxidant ingredients(Green tea) if you are being health conscious.  Now, the matter is if you can find the NOS Powershots, because not a lot of places carry them, but if they do I recommend giving them a try.

The criteria to make the reviews fair:

• Drink can't be more than 2.5 ounces in size.
• At least 48 hours of no caffeine between reviews.  This provides none of the drinks to have any affects on another drink.
• All drinks were taken at the same time of day: 8 am in the morning
• Tester took the drink with the same meal: one poptart.  This provided at least a little bit of food in the stomach, but not enough to alter the affects of the drink.
• Time was recorded when the drink kicked in, and the noted time the drink wore off.
• Feelings, side effects, and moods were recorded

A side note:  You won't find any 6 hour energy drink, 7 hour energy drink, or 24 hour energy drink on this list.  We tested them, and unfortunately they rank at the bottom of the list.  So far the only energy drink that has surpassed the 5 hour mark is 5 Hour Energy's Extra Strength coming in at 5 hours 40 minutes.
